Childcare Vouchers
How does it work?
- Choose the monthly amount of Childcare Vouchers you require up to the maximum of £243 per month. These can be used to pay for registered childcare including breakfast, after school and holiday clubs.
- The exemption for Childcare Vouchers means the tax and NI you would normally pay on this amount reduces your childcare costs.

- If you already have Childcare Vouchers in place, these arrangements will continue until you make any changes through SH Online Reward.
- To qualify for the income tax and NI exemption, your childcare provider must be approved and registered as follows: Department for Education & Skills/OFSTED approved nannies, OFSTED registered child minders, nurseries and play schemes, after school and summer clubs.
- The income tax and NI exemption is per employee, not per child.
- You can use Childcare Vouchers to pay for childcare up to 1 September following your child's 15th birthday (or 16th if disabled).
- You should make separate arrangements to pay any excess childcare costs, over and above the £243 per month limit for Childcare Vouchers.
